I Love My Body Again!

When you are thinking Spring why not think~” I want to renew myself and love my body again!” 

 What if I told you there was a new way to firm up, get healthy, feel better than you have in years AND was as easy as standing in place?  You’d think this was just another too good to be true sales pitch, right!  

 Well I am living proof of how the La Jolla Wellness Studio changed my life.  

 My doctors are very satisfied at the improvement in my overall health.  After coming close to facing the prospect of declining health, I made the commitment to take better care of myself. La Jolla Wellness Studio will launch 2016 with a lively nutrition discussion by Yvonne Nienstadt, nutritional director at Rancho La Puerta, 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016 at 7580 Fay Ave., Suite 103 in La Jolla.

Studio manager Janelle Fischer promises a good-natured “food fight” that morning.

As many have experienced, she said, finding the “best” diet is rarely an easy task. The options can be staggering. Low-carb, vegan, gluten-free, high-protein and paleo are only a few of the current popular diet regimes.

And foods can be just as controversial: Are grains really killing us? Is soy as bad as some say? Is dairy? How much protein do we really need? What fats are best … and how much? What are the latest weight- loss and health schemes? These are just a few concerns that attendees can ask Nienstadt to tackle.

Why We Love i-LipoXcell

How long is your Telomere?

One of our clients has called to my attention a little known appenage called a Telemore. Studies have confirmed that doing a cardio exercise for a long time (45 minutes and higher) Cardio shrinks your telomeres. Short Telemores are a bad thing.

Why is this important to you?

Because many of today’s most widespread conditions and illnesses are associated with shorter telomeres. Telomeres are the tiny genetic “clocks” that tell your cells how old they are.

Why Exercise?

Exercise is vital at every age for a healthy life style, especially musculo-skeletal (bone and muscle) health and cardiovascular (heart and blood vessels). After peaking in young adulthood, skeletal muscle starts declining at about 45 to 55 years of age. But there are ways to minimize muscle loss as you age. Not only does exercise improve bone health, it also increases muscle strength, coordination, and balance, and it leads to better overall health. Depending on the type of exercise it can increase lean muscle mass and promote weight loss through burning increased calories.

Benefits of Whole Body Vibrational Training (WBVT)

As a practicing cardiologist, I emphasize to patients the importance of exercise and diet in the development and maintenance of a heart healthy lifestyle. Moderate aerobic exercise of 30-60 minutes has been found to decrease deaths from heart attack and stroke by 50%-75% over a sedentary lifestyle. Even 10 minutes of aerobic exercise five days a week has been shown to improve cardiovascular risk.

Over the last 15 to 20 years, there have also been a growing number of studies showing that high-intensity, brief-duration exercise programs significantly improves exercise performance as well as changing body mass composition and lowering the percentage of body fat. When combined with a heart healthy diet, this can lead to significant weight loss.

One of the exercise programs studied is the use of the ROM (Range of Motion) training device which implements high-intensity aerobic and anaerobic exercise for short-intervals of 4 to 8 minute sessions three times a week (see references 1 and 2).

This high-intensity, short-interval conditioning program resulted in marked improvement in physical conditioning compared to a 30 to 60 minute exercise program of lower intensity done 3 to 5 times a week. In addition, there was a favorable decrease in percent body fat as well as higher fat-free weight resulting in the body composition to more lean muscle mass using the high-intensity exercise program.

The ROM program used at the La Jolla Wellness Studio also incorporates the pre-exercise and post-exercise sonic vibration platforms that promote an increase in muscle relaxation and rapid clearing of lactic acid from the muscles leading to more rapid muscle recovery.

Both the high-intensity training and the sonic vibration platform techniques are used by professional athletes. I have also used this program and found it to be highly effective.
